1991
Neoprene Distributors Int’l (NDI), doing business as Aqua Sports Technology, was established and incorporated in 1991. We became pioneers in the development of banana-style water sleds, introducing the term “banana boat” to the U.S. retail market. In 1992, we unveiled our signature yellow body and blue side runner design, still one of our most popular models today.
1995 – 1997
Aqua Sports Technology expanded rapidly, developing new six- and ten-passenger banana boat configurations and supplying major international resorts and distributors. We also provided manufacturing consultation and OEM development for leading sporting goods distributors, long before global communication was instant.
1997 – 1999
With the web just beginning, we secured the domains www.banana-boats.com and www.watertrampolines.com, and trademarked the name Island Hopper™. This led to the launch of our first Island Hopper Water Trampolines, which quickly became a U.S. retail success.
2000 – 2005
Innovation took center stage, from our patented Sport Utility Towable to our commercial-grade banana boats featuring cutting-edge materials and reinforcements. We introduced the Red Shark, Turtle Hop, and Turtle Jump lines, setting new standards for inflatable design and safety.
2006 – 2007
The patented Gator Bounce & Slide and Six Whale Ride Banana Boat joined our portfolio, along with our now-iconic Bounce & Splash bouncers, still among our bestsellers today.
2008 – 2009
Our brand had become synonymous with high-quality water inflatables. We expanded into children’s recreational products, creating a line of Island Hopper Bounce Houses designed by top industry experts.
2010 – 2015
Aqua Sports Technology acquired the R.U.Outside brand, expanding into winter sports apparel and accessories. Meanwhile, we developed our Elite Class Banana Boats and Water Trampolines, made from advanced PVC and reinforced materials recognized as the best commercial inflatables in the industry.
2015 – Present
For over 35 years, Aqua Sports Technology has proudly built and shipped thousands of quality products worldwide. Our mission remains the same, to listen to our customers, deliver safe, durable, and innovative products, and stay true to the people who make our success possible every day.
